Today, July 31, ITS announced that Ports America Group is acquiring ITS and will create a new company that will handle stevedoring at ITS. The transaction is anticipated to close at the end of August 2014.

At this time, we have no additional information. The Officers will stay on top of this transition and will keep the Membership informed as more information is available.

In this Arbitration, the Employers denied a Longshore Division worker (longshore working as a Clerk) access to the terminal after being dispatched. The Employers, Hanjin-TTI, refused to "escort" or pay a lost work opportunity. The Member had made a good faith application for her TWIC renewal and had receipt in hand. She was awaiting TWIC card production and experienced delays during the process.

Attention Members: Please be sure to always print out your receipt when applying for your TWIC renewal. Your receipt will show that you have paid your fee. Also, take a look weekly to check your status. If the process takes more than 30 days, be sure to keep a fresh receipt with you. Print a fresh receipt at least every 30 days while you are waiting for your TWIC card. If you have any problems printing out your TWIC status, please come to the Local 63 Business Office and ask for an Officer or Robert Maynez, if an Officer is not available.
