Local President Bobby Olvera, Jr. gave some opening remarks and was followed by Keynote Speaker State Senator Isadore Hall III. Senator Hall is widely known to be seeking Congresswoman Janice Hahn's seat when she leaves to run for LA County Supervisor.
The event was a success. Together, we raised over $71,000, beating last year's fundraising of $66,800. These funds go toward supporting services for over 12,000 at-risk youth including the "College Bound" program which supports 1,400 youth in the LA Harbor area.

This year's activities will include a Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament at the Normandie Casino on July 23rd, hosted by ILWU Locals 13, 63, and 94 and a walk and BBQ on Saturday, August 22, in Port Hueneme hosted by ILWU Local 46.
ILWU Walk the Coast is a top fundraiser in the fight against childhood cancer and has raised over $220,000 for cancer research in just 3 short years.

REMINDER FROM THE LOCAL 63 OFFICERS REGARDING DISPATCH RULE ND-21 (this rule applies to all training including GST):
Night Clerks attending day training class may at, their option, take the prior night off OR take the night of the training off; however, they must take one or the other.
REMINDER ON DISPATCH CHECK-IN TIMES
Reminder, if you work, the following are the earliest check-in times for Dispatch:
1st Shift -- 4:30 p.m.
2nd Shift - 2:30 a.m.
3rd Shift - 7:30 a.m.
*Exception, if you worked a vessel that finished, you can check-in when the ship is done.
