Desmond Bridge Closure Set for June 14
Repairs to shut span in both directions for 10 hours

The Gerald Desmond Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, to allow workers to repair and replace safety lights atop the span, which connects the downtown Long Beach area to Terminal Island.
The work to be performed by the Long Beach Harbor Department is needed to comply with aviation safety standards. It is not related to the ongoing Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project.
Motorists can use Pacific Coast Highway to travel east and west between Long Beach and the San Pedro area. PCH can also be used to access the 103 Freeway to reach Terminal Island or Ocean Boulevard west of the bridge.
Detour signs will be posted.

LOCAL 63 APPROVES CONTRACT BY 83% YES VOTE
Today, the Local 63 Ballot Committee tallied and confirmed that Local 63 Members approved the 2014-2019 Contract with 720 "Yes" votes out of 864 valid ballots cast (83% voted yes).

Next week, the Coast Ballot Committee will certify the results of the ballot process, coastwise.
The Local 63 Officers will keep the Membership updated.
LOCALS 13-63-94 HOST CALIFORNIA ALL PORTS MEETING
On May 13-14, 2015, ILWU Locals 13, 63, and 94 hosted an important California All Ports Meeting of the ILWU leadership in California. The meeting was called to build solidarity among ILWU Longshore Division locals in California and discuss issues of common concern.
The ILWU Credit Union graciously hosted a lunch and hospitality hour for the attendees.
The meeting was a great success and it was resolved to hold these meetings annually whenever possible.
